Vol. 128 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance Limit.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he is aware that, where a person has means exceeding 15/- per week, he is deprived of unemployment assistance benefit and whether in view of the substantial increase in the cost of living, he is now prepared to introduce proposals for legislation to raise this statutory limit.

The assistance schemes are being further considered with a view to determining the lines on which they can best be developed. The question of raising the statutory limit for receipt of a qualification certificate is included in the matters for examination.
