Vol. 128 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wall Board and Plaster Board Imports.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the fact that a number of men are now getting only part-time employment in the wall board and plaster board industry in Kingscourt, County Cavan, he will consider restricting the import of wall board and plaster board.

The under-employment referred to by the Deputy cannot be due to imports of products similar to those manufactured in Kingscourt, as imports during the present year have been almost negligible. There is a customs duty of 9d. (full), 6d. (preferential) per square yard on such products.
