Vol. 128 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Health Insurance Benefits.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he is aware that payment of national health benefits where due is not made with sufficient regularity to residents in Ballyfermot, County Dublin; and, if so, if he will examine the position and, if necessary, have additional agents appointed so as to ensure that recipients of national health benefits will receive payment more regularly.

I am not aware that payment of national health insurance benefits is not made with sufficient regularity to residents in Ballyfermot, County Dublin. Cheques are delivered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week and, where necessary, at more frequent intervals.

Two agents operate in this area and the necessity for the appointment of additional agents has not so far arisen.

Has the Minister made any inquiries to discover whether or not the situation complained of exists?

I did in the limited time I had, but I got no complaint. If the Deputy has received any individual complaints I should be glad to investigate them.
