asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in regard to County Cavan the quantity of land which was (a) offered to the Forestry Division; (b) inspected and found suitable for afforestation, and (c) acquired by the Forestry Division from the 31st March, 1948, to the most recent convenient date.

The area offered to the Forestry Division since the 31st March, 1948, in County Cavan amounted to over 5,000 acres; 4,173 acres were inspected and 1,071 acres found suitable, apart from a further 756 acres upon which final decisions have not yet been taken. The area acquired amounted to 66 acres.
