Vol. 128 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltarra Éireann Weavers.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange that weavers employed under Gaeltarra Éireann, working on looms in their own homes, will be permitted to have their unemployment books stamped, and thus qualify for benefit.

There is no power to have the workers concerned insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts unless they are employed under a contract of service.

It would appear from the information furnished by Roinn Tailte early this year regarding the conditions of the employment that such a contract does not exist.
