Vol. 129 No. 1

Written Answers. - Newbridge Water and Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state what is the present position regarding the provision of adequate water and sewerage schemes for Newbridge, especially in view of the fact that the county council are building over 200 additional houses in the town, many of which are expected to be available for occupation within the next few weeks.

Priority has been given by Kildare County Council to that section of the Kildare regional water supply scheme which is to serve Newbridge. The acceptance of tenders for the purchase of the required pipes, sluice valves and air valves was approved on 31st August, 1951, and the invitation of tenders for laying the pipelines to Newbridge was approved on 22nd November, 1951.

Approval issued on the 8th August, 1951, to the invitation of tenders for the sewerage scheme for Newbridge, subject to its being found possible to acquire by agreement any lands required for the purposes of the scheme and the terms of acquisition of the pump-house site, were approved on 29th November, 1951.
