Vol. 129 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Cork Hospital.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state on what grounds he asked the North Cork Committee of Public Assistance to supply him with further information as to the necessity for a further hospital in North Cork.

On 22nd December last the Cork County Council was asked to forward to my Department a fully documented statement setting out the case in support of each of the suggested locations for the proposed new district hospital in North Cork. This request followed the receipt in my Department on 30th November of a copy of a resolution passed by the North Cork Committee of Public Assistance at their meeting of 12th November, 1951, that negotiations be not entered into for the purchase of the site for the proposed new hospital at Mitchelstown until such time as the Minister for Health should hold an inquiry to ascertain where the hospital is most needed.
