Vol. 129 No. 4

Order of Business.

Business will be taken in the following order, as set out on the Order Paper: Nos. 5, 9, 11, 10 and 6. It is proposed to interrupt Government Business at 7.30 p.m. to take Motion No. 7, which stands in the names of Deputies Norton and Larkin.

I should, perhaps, explain to the Deputies concerned that it will not be possible to allow any further Government time for that motion and that if it is not completed this evening it will go back to its place on the list of Private Members' motions. If it is desired to bring the debate on the motion to a conclusion it will have to be done within the time available this evening. Of course, if the other business should finish earlier then the discussion on the motion will start earlier.

If there is a request for a vote on the motion at 10.30 p.m., I take it that we can have the vote?

Certainly, as far as we are concerned.

There is no purpose in giving three hours for the discussion of the motion to-night and then switching it back into another queue. Will the Chair permit a vote on Motion No. 7 to be taken at 10.30 to-night?

If, in fact, any question of a vote should arise.

May I take it, also, that time will be given to reply on the motion?

How much time does the Deputy require for his reply?

I think 15 minutes would be reasonable.

Agreed.

With the permission of the Chair, I intend to raise the subject-matter of Question No. 48 on to-day's Order Paper.

Mr. O'Higgins

I should like to renew an application which I made yesterday to raise the subject-matter of Questions No. 28 to 31 on yesterday's Order Paper.

When will some of the other Bills be circulated? I have in mind No. 13, in view of the fact that the Supplementary Estimate has been circulated.

I hope it will be circulated next week.

Is it proposed to meet to-morrow?

What day do we meet next week?

Wednesday.
