Vol. 129 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killybegs Carpet Factory.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the fact that a number of girls were paid off from employment in Killybegs carpet factory recently, he will endeavour to ensure that all Government carpet contracts are allotted to this factory.

Having regard to the over-riding principle of competitive tendering for Government contracts, I could not undertake to place all carpet contracts with any particular factory. In any case, I am advised that the factory named in the question does not produce all the varying types of carpet required for Government service from time to time.
