Vol. 129 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have acquired the Franks estate, Ballinspittle, County Cork; and, if not, when they expect to, and if a scheme of allotment has been drawn up for this estate

The purchase of the Franks estate cannot be completed until the vendor shows title. Meanwhile a scheme of allotment is in course of preparation.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have decided to cause early inspection of the Rolleston estate at Frankfort, Dunkerrin, Roscrea, County Offaly, with a view to its division amongst the many local smallholders and deserving applicants, and whether they are making arrangements to have the claims of the local people for land fully investigated.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of this estate. The claims of local eligible persons or bodies will be fully considered in the event of any land in the area becoming available for allotment.

Would the Minister be good enough on behalf of local deserving applicants to direct the attention of the Land Commission to the Rolleston estate as this is the only estate which remains undivided in the district? There is not the least prospect of any other land being divided in Dunkerrin, as this is the only large tract of land in the vicinity.

My information is that congestion in the area has been relieved and that a certain number of estates have been already allotted. However, I shall have further inquiries made.
