Vol. 129 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dingle Housing Needs.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the urgent necessity for the building of a number of rural cottages in Dingle, County Kerry; and if he will have arrangements made to expedite the matter in view of the housing situation in the district.

A lay-out plan for a scheme of 13 houses at John Street, Dingle, was finally approved by my Department on the 26th November, 1951. The Kerry County Council were also informed that the erection of four houses on the opposite side of John Street was in order. It is understood from the council, however, that the sites already approved will not accommodate sufficient houses to meet the full needs of Dingle and that negotiations are proceeding for the acquisition of a larger site. The council have been requested to expedite the submission of their further proposals.
