Vol. 129 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Vehicles and Parts from Dollar Area.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether and to what extent motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts are at present imported from the dollar area and what the Government's policy is in relation to the matter.

In the year 1951 motor vehicles and parts to the value of £1,044,770 were imported from dollar areas. Government policy in the matter is aimed at providing sufficient dollars to enable this industry to continue operations so far as practicable at a reasonable rate and to maintain employment.
