Vol. 129 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Chief Housing Architect.

asked the Minister for Local Government what steps, if any, have been taken by the Corporation of Dublin to fill the vacant position of chief housing architect which has now been vacant for a considerable period.

On the death of the housing architect of the Dublin Corporation in 1948 his duties were assigned to the city architect and the corporation requested the Local Appointments Commissioners to recommend to them a suitable person to carry out the duties of housing architect under the general supervision of the city architect. The commissioners have twice held competitions but it has not been found possible to make an appointment as a result of either of these. It is proposed to make another attempt. Meanwhile the deputy housing architect has been acting in the post.
