Vol. 129 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have at any time issued notice of acquisition to the owners of the Higgins estate known as the Rusk near Dunboyne; and, if so, if he will state the reason why the notice was withdrawn.

Proceedings were instituted for the acquisition of this estate and the statutory notices were served on the owners. Representations were made subsequently to have the proceedings discontinued. After further consideration of all the circumstances the commissioners at their discretion (and the matter is entirely reserved to them) decided to withdraw from the acquisition proceedings.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if any decision has been reached in the case of the Gasteen estate near Clonard, County Meath; and, if so, the nature of the decision.

Objections to the acquisition and petitions against the resumption of the lands in question have been heard in the Land Commission Court. It is expected that judgment will be given at an early date.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have any proceedings for the acquisition of any of the Coleman lands in the parishes of Moynalvy and Trim.

Proceedings are well advanced for the acquisition of 119 acres and the resumption of 85 acres of the lands held by Mr. Joseph Coleman.
