Vol. 129 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gardaí Widows' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the fact that widows of deceased Gardaí find it increasingly difficult to exist on their pensions, he will consider granting them an early increase, if necessary by the introduction of proposals for legislation.

I regret that I cannot at present hold out any hope of a further amendment of the Garda Síochána pensions code on the lines suggested by the Deputy. I should like to point out that Garda widows' pensions were improved substantially by the Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1950.
