Vol. 129 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Roscommon Surplus Oats.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that a large number of farmers in County Roscommon have a considerable stock of oats on hands for which they cannot get a market; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

I am aware that farmers in some areas have oats on hands for which they may not have a ready cash market at the moment. The most profitable way in which the growers can dispose of their oats is to feed them to live stock on their farms, but farmers having oats on hands should be able to find a market between now and next harvest when there is usually a demand for feeding stuffs.

Did it not take you a long time to learn that?

Mr. Walsh

Seeing that we have no £21 a ton maize we are having, I think, amazing results.
