Vol. 129 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nationalisation of Salmon Rivers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether it is his intention to introduce proposals for legislation to nationalise all salmon rivers, including the River Blackwater, in the immediate future; and, if so, whether he will undertake to include therein a provision safeguarding the interests of the net fishermen and guaranteeing that the conditions under which they work will not be worsened.

Mr. Walsh

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a similar question by Deputy Dan Breen on 31st January last. It is not intended to amend the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1939, to the detriment of the interests referred to by the Deputy.
