Vol. 130 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supply of Steel.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the scarcity of steel is causing unemployment in the shipbuilding and repairing industry; and, if so, if he will state if any arrangements are being made to safeguard a supply of the necessary materials for this industry.

I am not aware that scarcity of steel is causing any unemployment in the shipbuilding or repairing industry. The requirements of this industry are being kept under constant review and such representations as are necessary have been made, and will continue to be made, to secure supplies.
