Vol. 130 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School.

asked the Minister for Education whether he will now say when work on the new school at Kilmurray, County Cork, will be undertaken.

I assume that the school referred to by the Deputy is that at Kilmurray, Lisardagh, County Cork.

Difficulties arose in regard to the site originally proposed by the manager for a new school to replace the present school, but the manager is in a position to make available a different site, which the Department is prepared to accept as suitable. Certain arrangements have, however, still to be made as regards the production of evidence of title to the site now proposed before the Department can sanction a grant towards the cost of the erection of the new school.

I am unable to say at present when building operations will be commenced, but I am aware of the urgency of the need for the new premises and the Department is endeavouring to have the case expedited as far as possible.
