asked the Taoiseach if he will give particulars as to the number of new passports and travel identity permits issued to persons, living in County Galway, seeking employment or going to permanent residence abroad for each of the months of September, October, November and December, 1951, and January and February, 1952, giving comparative figures for the previous year in each case.

The numbers of new passports and travel identity permits issued to persons from County Galway seeking employment abroad or going to permanent residence abroad during the periods in question were as follows: September, 1951, 151; October, 1951, 161; November, 1951, 98; December, 1951, 63; January, 1952, 143; February, 1952, 136. The comparative figures for the previous year in each case were: September, 1950, 160; October, 1950, 77; November, 1950, 82; December, 1950, 34; January, 1951, 91; February, 1951, 96.
