Vol. 131 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disability Benefits.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether, in view of the fact that the Social Welfare (Insurance) Bill, 1951, makes no provision for aid to disabled people as such, he will state if it is his intention to seek leave to introduce proposals for legislation in the future to relieve the dire hardship suffered by many disabled people whose disability precludes them from the advantages of unemployment and health benefits.

I do not at present contemplate seeking to introduce proposals for such legislation but the matter is one to which I have not yet given final consideration.
