Vol. 131 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Income.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (1) the amount of the national income for each of the three years ended 31st March, 1952, and (2) how the national income was shared between (a) wages, (b) salaries, (c) company profits, (d) profits of small traders, (e) rent, and (f) interest for each of the three years ended 31st March, 1952.

A report bearing generally on the statistics requested by the Deputy is in an advanced state of compilation, and, it is hoped, will be published shortly.

In the light of further investigations, certain changes will be made in the figures already published for the years 1949 and 1950, but, as these investigations have not yet been completed, the issue of the results must be deferred until the publication of the full report.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that I asked a similar question three years ago and was given a similar reply?

The Deputy will have it shortly.
