Vol. 131 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butter Imports.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will indicate the total cost and quantity of butter imported since 13th June, 1951, and what steps have been taken by him to restore the production of Irish creamery butter to the 1950 level in order to end the practice of importing butter.

The total quantity of butter imported since 13th June, 1951, was 119,977½ cwt. costing £2,255,272.

As regards the second part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave on 27th March last to a question asked by Deputy Burke.
