Vol. 131 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mitchelstown School.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the cause of the delay in advertising for tenders to build the extra addition to the Presentation Convent Schools, Mitchelstown.

Revised plans for the proposed scheme for the enlargement and improvement of Mitchelstown Convent National School have been furnished by the manager's architect and a report from the Commissioners of Public Works as to the suitability of the plans is expected at an early date. As soon as the report comes to hand, the Department will communicate with the manager in regard to the scheme.

Certain other preliminary arrangements which are at present in hands will have to be completed before the Department will be in a position to sanction a grant towards the cost of the scheme.

May I take it that the scheme will be completed in sufficient time for reopening after the summer holidays?

I cannot guarantee that. There are certain actions which must be taken locally before the Department can function in the matter.
