Vol. 131 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sea Front Protection Wall (Tory Island).

asked the Minister for Finance if it is proposed to erect a protection wall on the sea front between the dwellinghouse of Mrs. Mary McClafferty, Sea View, Tory Island, County Donegal, and the foreshore.

As the Deputy is no doubt aware, it is extremely difficult to arrange for the inspection or execution of works on Tory Island. It is hoped, if conditions permit, to have this proposal inspected within the next month or two, when the matter will receive consideration.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that for six months of the year there is no difficulty whatsoever in going to or leaving Tory Island, that Irish Lights have a fortnightly sailing, and that it should not be difficult for an official to visit Tory Island.

I will bring the matter to the notice of the Special Employments Office and ask them to have an inspection carried out very soon.
