Vol. 132 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Postal Delivery.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state why the postal delivery for the townland of Lough Eske has been changed to Barnesmore sub-post office, County Donegal, thereby causing a considerable delay in the delivery of Dublin mail in the area.

The transfer of Lough Eske from the Donegal postal district to Barnesmore is an essential part of a general scheme for the provision of daily deliveries in the Donegal area which is due to be implemented next month. There will be no delay in the delivery of Dublin mails as a result of the transfer. On the contrary, it is expected that delivery to the townland of Lough Eske will be accelerated appreciably.

I am informed that it involves the Dublin mail and the daily newspapers being a day late.

The Deputy will find on June 3rd that the position will be as I have indicated.
