Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extensions of Industry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the number of extensions to existing undertakings employing (i) less than ten persons and (ii) ten or more persons, established with State aid or assistance in the Twenty-Six Counties during the period July, 1945, to date, and still in production; (b) the name, location and nature of production of each extension; (c) the date of commencement of production; (d) the total amount of employment provided by the extensions referred to at (a) (i) and (a) (ii) respectively, distinguishing in each case between adult (male and female) and juvenile (male and female) employees, and (e) the estimated total potential employment to be provided by the extensions referred to at (a) (i) and (a) (ii), respectively, when in full production.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the number of new factories employing (i) less than ten persons and (ii) ten or more persons, established with State aid or assistance in the Twenty-Six Counties during the period July, 1945, to date, and still in production; (b) the name, location and nature of production of each factory; (c) the date of commencement of production; (d) the total amount of employment provided by the factories referred to at (a) (i) and (a) (ii) respectively, distinguishing in each case between adult (male and female) and juvenile (male and female) employees, and (c) the estimated total potential employment to be provided by the factories referred to at (a) (i) and (a) (ii), respectively.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 6 and 7 together. The compilation of the information for which the Deputy asks is a formidable task but if he will repeat the questions in about three weeks' time I hope to be in a position to give him such information as is available.
