Vol. 132 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will indicate the net gain to the Exchequer arising out of the abatement of certain service pensions and when he hopes to have this method of reducing service pensions repealed.

The estimated saving in respect of abatement of military service pensions in the current financial year is shown in the Army Pensions Estimate as £29,583.

I am not in a position to make any statement on the question of the repeal of the sections of the Military Service Pensions Acts dealing with abatement of pensions.
