Vol. 132 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Import Duties.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that in the case of certain manufactured articles no import duties apply, notwithstanding that duties apply to the raw materials out of which such goods are made, and that, consequently, home manufacturers cannot compete with imported goods; and, if so, whether he is prepared to have cases of this kind examined with a view to introducing the necessary protection.

I am not aware of the specific case to which the Deputy refers but I am prepared to have the matter examined if the Deputy will supply me with particulars.
