Vol. 132 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission in connection with the proposed acquisition of the More O'Farrell estate, and if he is aware that the delay in giving a decision is causing dissatisfaction to the claimants and to the owner.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of this estate, but are having an inspection made.

I would like the Minister to take note of the last part of the question, that is, the delay and great inconvenience to the claimants and to the owner, when speed is very essential.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is now in a position to state what decision the Land Commission have taken as regards the proposal to acquire the Ward estate, Mucknagh, Killoe, Longford, and if he is aware that the delay is causing dissatisfaction to the claimants and to the owner.

The Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of this estate. The matter is being dealt with as expeditiously as possible.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will now state whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the landlord's portion of Clonterns Bog, Longford, County Longford, for division amongst the tenants adjoining that bog; and, if so, with what result.

The bog in question appears to be Cloontirm Bog, on the estate of Hugh R. Moorehead, County Longford.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of this bog, but are having inquiries made in the matter.
