Vol. 132 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Fishing Boats.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will indicate the minimum deposit now necessary for obtaining a boat from An Bord Iascaigh Mhara and whether he has been able to implement the wishes of Dáil Éireann in this matter.

Mr. Walsh

The minimum prepayment required in respect of fishing boats issued on hire purchase by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara is 10 per cent. of the cost of the boat. The question of reducing the percentage prepayment is at present under consideration.

Would the Minister consider advising the board to decrease the deposit to, say, 5 per cent.?

Mr. Walsh

I have already told the Deputy that the matter is under consideration.

May I ask permission to raise the subject matter of Question No. 8 on the Adjournment?

I will communicate with the Deputy during the course of the afternoon.

I asked permission yesterday to raise the subject matter of Question No. 33 with the Minister for Agriculture. I trust that that will be in order to-day.

The matter will be considered and I will communicate with the Deputy in the course of the evening.
