Vol. 133 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that the Military Service Pensions Board are very slow in answering letters of members of the Old I.R.A. who write in connection with their pensions and medals, etc., and that only 5 per cent. of the letters at most are acknowledged; and, if so, whether he will ask the board to show more consideration in answering these letters, especially in the case of those asking for medals.

I am not aware that there is any avoidable delay in dealing with matters connected with military service pensions or service medals. Applications are dealt with as expeditiously as the circumstances permit.

If, however, the Deputy will bring to my notice any particular cases where he considers delay occurred, I will have the matter investigated.
