Vol. 133 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Water Supply Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the delay in the extension of the Fethard regional water scheme to Drangan and Killenaule, County Tipperary, in view of the grave hardship and continuous danger to public health involved.

Piped water supplies for Drangan and Killenaule are provided in the proposals submitted by the sanitary authority for the Fethard regional water supply scheme. The scope of these proposals is very extensive and envisages a considerable rural demand. Before the limits of the scheme can be finally determined, it is necessary that further investigation be carried out to establish the adequacy of the proposed sources and the potential demand in the areas to be supplied. The sanitary authority have recently been requested to carry out investigations on these lines.
