Vol. 133 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Road Worker's Claim.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that Mr. Daniel McCarthy of Ballyporeen, County Tipperary, who was injured in the course of his duty as county council road worker in October, 1951, has been refused workmen's compensation by the Tipperary South Riding County Council and if he is further aware that the local authority have pleaded the statute of limitations in the matter; and, if so, whether, in view of the terrible hardship caused to this man, including loss of one eye, he will instruct the local authority to deal favourably with this man.

I have no functions in this matter and in the circumstances it would be improper for me to convey any instructions to the local authority in regard to the claim, which, I understand, relates to an injury alleged to have occurred in October, 1949.
