asked the Taoiseach if he will state the amount of cheese, chocolate crumb and evaporated milk manufactured by creameries from 1st January, 1951, to 30th June, 1951, and from 1st January, 1952, to 30th June, 1952, or the nearest available date.

The total quantity of cheese manufactured by creameries was estimated at 2,100 cwt. in the first quarter of 1951; 21,100 cwt. in the second quarter of 1951; and 800 cwt. in the first quarter of 1952. No estimate of production in the second quarter of 1952 is yet available.

No chocolate crumb was manufactured by creameries but the total amount manufactured by other producers was estimated at 22,400 cwt. in the first quarter of 1951; 158,000 cwt. in the second quarter of 1951; and 15,700 cwt. in the first quarter of 1952. No estimate of production in the second quarter of 1952 is yet available.

Particulars of the home production of evaporated milk cannot be furnished since they relate to one firm only.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the amount of butter manufactured by creameries from new milk from 1st January to 30th June, 1951, and from 1st January to 30th June, 1952, or the nearest available date.

The total quantity of butter manufactured by creameries from new milk from January 1st to June 15th, the latest date for which comparable figures are available, was 175,860 cwt. in 1951 and 204,400 cwt. in 1952. The quantity manufactured in the full six months from January 1st to June 30th, 1951, was 230,390 cwt.
