Vol. 133 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clearing of County Kerry River.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is in a position to sanction the clearing of the main drainage channel of the River Maine, County Kerry, and of the tributary rivers in pieces and blocks as the necessity arises.

The answer is "No." Arterial drainage schemes can be carried out only in accordance with the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, which contemplates the execution of comprehensive schemes for entire catchment areas.
