Vol. 134 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Development Authority.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate how many proposals concerning new industries are before the Industrial Development Authority for consideration and the general nature of these proposals.

The main activities of the Industrial Development Authority are now directed to the investigation of the possibility of securing the establishment in this country of plants for the production of particular commodities designated by me. The commodities so designated have not heretofore been produced here.

Arising out of these investigations there are at present 38 proposals before the Industrial Development Authority. Some of these proposals relate to the same commodities.

The Deputy, no doubt, appreciates the reasons why it would be undesirable to give particulars of these proposals.
