Vol. 134 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Traffic Act Advances.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when it is hoped to have the machinery for making advances under the Tourist Traffic Act complete.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to the provisions under Part III of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1952 for the guaranteeing of loans for the improvement and extension of holiday accommodation, and the development of tourist resorts.

Priority was given to the preparation of a guarantee scheme in relation to loans connected with holiday accommodation. This scheme is almost ready to be put into operation and an announcement on the subject will be made by An Bórd Fáilte at an early date. The arrangements regarding the guaranteeing of loans for resort development are under consideration and will be announced as soon as possible.
