asked the Taoiseach if he has any up-to-date records of figures of emigration from this country to Great Britain and America; and, if so, if he will convey them to the House.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emigration.
The currently available statistical records of migration into and out of the State have been fully described in the article "Statistics of Emigration and Passenger Movement" in the Irish Trade Journal and Statistical Bulletin, June, 1951, pp. 76-84. I have nothing to add to the information given in that article and in my replies to the question addressed to me by Deputy Hession on the 1st May, 1952, and the question addressed to me yesterday by Deputy D. Costello.
Mr. Flanagan
Does the very great volume of emigration from the midlands to America at the present time not cause very grave concern to the Parliamentary Secretary's Department and to that of the Government?
That is a separate question.
Mr. Flanagan
These figures are very alarming.
