Vol. 135 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 10, 13 (Vote 6), 1, 14 and 11. Questions will be taken at 3 o'clock and business will be interrupted after Questions in order to take Nos. 1, 14 and 11.

What about next week's sittings?

I understand there are to be some discussions to-day and I hope they will result in an amicable arrangement.

Item No. 9 on the Order Paper relates to Social Welfare (Insurance Inclusions and Exclusions) Regulations. That is a very important document and would the Tánaiste arrange to have copies of it circulated because if everybody bears down on the Library copies will not be available for all.

I am not sure if the regulations have been printed but I will have the matter examined.

When is it proposed to take Item No. 9?

I think it has to be taken next week.

It has to be taken before the Christmas Recess.

We will put it on the Order Paper for next week.

In the meantime would the Tánaiste endeavour to have the regulations issued?

I presume they are printed but I am not sure.

Is it proposed to dispose of all the Estimates under Item No. 13 before the Adjournment?

I doubt if that would be practicable.

I understand that there is a Supplementary Estimate in relation to agriculture.

There is, and it must be disposed of before Christmas. It will be looked after to-morrow. There will also be some Supplementary Estimates for social welfare consequential on the legislation being passed.

When will we get these?

I hope we will have them by to-morrow.

Will it be necessary to deal with those Estimates before the Recess?

Yes. It will be necessary to deal with the social welfare ones, the one for agriculture and possibly one transport one. I am not clear about that yet.

What about the Córas Iompair Éireann Estimate?

As far as Córas Iompair Éireann is concerned, we can make arrangements to keep them in funds until after Christmas.

Will it be necessary to dispose of the Supplementary Estimate before Christmas?

I do not think it will be necessary. There are discussions going on as to what arrangements might be made in regard to Córas Iompair Éireann funds until the Dáil reassembles after Christmas. I think an arrangement will be practicable.
