Vol. 135 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Scholarship Means Test.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the dissatisfaction that exists with regard to the means test applied to applicants for scholarships in secondary and vocational schools in County Wexford for 1953; and, if so, if he will take steps to ensure that this means test will be modified in respect of applicants whose parents have a fixed income.

The means limits in a scholarship scheme are formulated by the county council or county borough corporation and submitted to the Minister for his approval. Limits of means have been submitted by the Wexford County Council in relation to the 1953 scholarship scheme and have received my approval. I am not aware that any dissatisfaction exists with regard to these limits.
