Vol. 135 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when the Electricity Supply Board propose extending rural electrification to the Finn valley, including Killygordon, Crossroads and Castlefinn, County Donegal.

Mr. Lynch

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the Killygordon area, which includes the villages of Killygordon, Crossroads and Castlefinn, County Donegal, has been selected by the board for development under the rural electrification scheme. It is expected that work on the erection of the network in the area will commence in the late spring of next year.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when the Electricity Supply Board propose extending rural electrification to Innishowen, County Donegal.

Mr. Lynch

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that while some progress has been made in the solution of the problems connected with the extension of supply to Innishowen, it is not yet possible to say when supply is likely to be extended to this area.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when the rural electrification scheme will be extended to Camolin, County Wexford.

Mr. Lynch

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the Camolin area has been considered for selection by the board on a number of occasions but has not so far been successful, mainly on account of the relatively low percentage of householders who have agreed to take supply. The area will again be considered for selection after some time but I am unable to state when development is likely to take place.
