Vol. 135 No. 10

Committee on Finance. - Question on Adjournment.

I gave notice to you, Sir, that I intended to raise on the adjournment last night Question No. 37 on the Order Paper yesterday. I wish to know if it would be in order now to raise the matter.

The Deputy must understand that there is a Standing Order governing this matter. If notice is given, say, on Wednesday and the matter is not proceeded with on that day, the notice must be repeated the following day; otherwise the Chair would have no opportunity of knowing whether the Deputy had disposed of the matter he wished to raise in the meantime. Apart from that, however, the appropriate Minister would have to be notified that the matter was being raised in order to be present to answer.

Would I be in order in raising the matter on the adjournment after the recess?

If we come back.

The Deputy would have to give me notice of that.

The Dáil adjourned at 1.15 p.m. until 3 o'clock on Wednesday, 4th February, 1953.
