Vol. 136 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Children's Allowances.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has since the subject was last referred to given any further consideration to the possibility of making weekly or fortnightly payments of the children's allowance to those parents whose circumstances warrant payment in such manner, and if he will now make arrangements to meet this demand.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to Deputy Costello in this matter, on the 9th December, 1952.

No circumstances have since arisen which would cause me to change my opinion that the present system of monthly payment of children's allowances is the better system.
