asked the Minister for External Affairs if he has made any request to the British Government since November, 1951, for the repatriation of the remains of Roger Casement to Ireland; and, if so, with whatresult and if he will ascertain from the British Government the reasons for not acceding to the request.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repatriation of Roger Casement's Remains.
The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. I regret to say that since the date of the Deputy's last question there has been no indication of a change of attitude on the part of the British authorities. I feel that at the present time no useful purpose would be served by endeavouring to ascertain the reasons for this attitude.
