Vol. 136 No. 13

Order of Business.

Business will be taken in the following order, as set out in the Order Paper — Nos. 1, 2 and 10. Private Deputies' business will be taken at 12 o'clock. It is proposed to meet at 2 o'clock next Wednesday.

I am sorry for not discussing this with the Chief Government Whip, but I do not think there seems to be much advantage in meeting at 2 o'clock and continuing until 11.30 p.m. now that the Second Stage of the Health Bill, which was expected to provide a lot of discussion, went through so quickly. I think we should resume the ordinary sitting hour of 3 o'clock.

We can discuss that. The Deputy will appreciate that we will be getting into the Vote on Account and other financial business in the following week and that it is desired to take as much legislation as possible before that.

A tremendous amount of work has still to be done.

It would be desirable that the Whips would discuss the matter. If they fail to reach agreement the matter can be brought before the House.

I would point out that the 2 to 11.30 p.m. meetings were arranged as an alternative to meeting on Tuesdays. It is a matter that can be discussed.
