Vol. 136 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Table Poultry Exports.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state from what source Eggsports, Limited, got the £200,000 which they lost on exports of table poultry in 1952.

Mr. Walsh

The loss was made good from profits realised on the sale of poultry in Great Britain following the decontrol of poultry prices in that country on the 1st July, 1950.

Might I inquire from the Minister for Agriculture if this sum is another of the several nest-eggs left to him by the outgoing Administration which he used to maintain prices in the year after he came into office?

Mr. Walsh

Some of it was used to win an election in May, 1951, when the price of eggs went up by 6d. a dozen.

I am glad you admit that the election was won.

This is another of the nest-eggs left for the Minister for Agriculture by his predecessor. If he knows who "pretty Fanny" is will he tell him about it?

Is a Deputy allowed to call a Minister "pretty Fanny"?

I said if the Minister for Agriculture knew anyone to whom the words "pretty Fanny" properly applied, he should communicate with him.

He knows "Molly Maguire"? Will that do?

If you can fit that on the Minister for Finance I will not complain.

Will it do to tell the "Molly Maguires"?

The Molly Maguires seem to upset the Minister for Local Government these days. They must be hurting him a lot in Cavan.

Far from it.

Will Deputies please allow the questions to proceed?
