Vol. 137 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Tipperary Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Forestry Division have considered the propriety of acquiring the land owned by a Mr. P. Byrne, Kilmartin, Roscrea, County Tipperary, for afforestation purposes; and, if so, with what result.

The lands in question were offered to my Department in 1946 but were then regarded as unsuitable for afforestation as the area was low-lying and swampy and inadequately drained. The offer has recently been renewed and it is proposed to reinspect at an early date with a view to deciding whether the area is amenable to treatment by the Department's ploughing equipment.
