Vol. 137 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Children's Allowances.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the total weekly amount of children's allowance payable to an adult agricultural worker in the first week of March, 1953, and in the same week of 1952, 1951 and 1950, where the number of qualified children is five.

There is no differentiation made between adult and juvenile agricultural workers or between agricultural and other workers in the payment of children's allowance.

The total amount payable to a claimant who had five qualified children in the first week of March, 1953, was approximately 14/8 per week, i.e. at the monthly rate of 11/- per month for the second qualified child and 17/6 per month for the third and each subsequent child.

The total amount payable to a claimant who had the same number of children in the first weeks of March, 1950, 1951 and 1952 was 7/6 per week.
