Vol. 137 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authorities (Works) Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a grant has been approved under the Local Authorities (Works) Act for the drainage of a river known as the Worm River which runs through the town-lands of Longhill and Esker, and if the Offaly County Council has been given permission to do the work; and, if so, when it is to be completed and what amount of money has been sanctioned in this case.

The river referred to by the Deputy appears to be that in respect of which a scheme, at an estimated cost of £180, was formulated by the Offaly County Council under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949. The county council did not put this work forward as one for execution under the grant allocation available to them in 1952-53.
